The 5 Best Guy Movies You’ve Never Seen

There are many movies out there that no one has heard of and for good reason – they’re not worth seeing. But there are some obscure movies that never got traction in the theaters or on DVD, but are real gems. Not many of us have seen Equilibrium, Ip Man, Rope, the Iron Giant and Real Steel. These movies are among the 5 best movies never seen by the movie-going public. Why are these movies so unique and interesting? Let’s take a look at each of them.

The Best Movies Never Seen:

1. Equilibrium

This movie is certainly a must-see one, not only because of its stunning futuristic ideas, but because it can affect the way you think and live. Equilibrium makes a real statement that will remain over the centuries: Freedom of opinion is a threat to all totalitarian systems. Dictators will always be frightened by the idea of citizens who think or feel too much, that’s why they will try to wipe those citizens out and to suppress their feelings. This is the main theme behind Equilibrium. In a terrifying future, Cleric John Preston (Christian Bale) is awakened by the sense offenders, a large group of people banned by the dictator (the Father).

With a rating of 7.6 on IMDB, Equilibrium has broke new ground by offering a whole new perspective on our society. Hopefully, the decadent and feeling-less society (which is considered a perfect one) showcased in the movie will never come to happen.

2. Ip Man.

With a high rating of 8.1 stars on IMDB, this semi-biographical movie hit the headlines four years ago, winning 12 awards and being nominated for another 10. This movie is the undisputed champion of martial arts movies, because it is made in China, with only Chinese actors and stuntmen.

The action takes place in 1935 in Foshan, South China, where Ip Man is a reputable martial arts guru and fighter. Donnie Yen, the star of the movie, is also a star in the real world, because he is the one who mentored Bruce Lee and helped the American actor to give a run for their money to all other martial arts experts.

3. Rope

Even if this movie is extremely old and it’s hard to find, especially in a Blu-ray format, Rope is considered by many one of the best crime movies of all times.

Users on IMDB rated this movie with 8.1 out of 10, which is pretty good, considering that only 5% of all movies have a rating better than 8. The plot is extremely interesting and mysterious, depicting two young men who share a small apartment in the center of New York. Due to their envy and anger towards their common friend, David Kentley, they decide to murder him and hide the body in an old chest. Furthermore, they hide the chest in the apartment and then throw a party.

According to most of the reviewers, this film can not dissapoint you, especially if you are keen on psychological movies. The end will leave you shell-shocked.

4. The Iron Giant

Starring Jennifer Aniston, Vin Diesel, John Mahoney and Harry Connick Jr.’s voices, this animation has an amazing 7.9 rating on IMDB and is considered one of the best animated movies of all times. With 19 wins and 14 nominations, the Iron Giant has created a buzz all around the world, among the animated movies fans.

The movie presents the amazing story of a 9-years old kid called Hogarth Hughes who becomes friend with a giant alien robot that arrived from outer space with a certain purpose. Meanwhile, a paranoid agent called Kent Mansley comes in the town with a sole mission to destroy the intruder from outer space at all costs. Now it’s up to the boy to protect his new friend. Will he succeed it? Watch the movie and you will see.

5. Real Steel

Lastly, this is one of the best movies I’ve seen lately. Even if on IMDB it has a rating of only 7.1, I would have given him a 9 star rating, similar to Lord of the Rings. If you want to see a top-notch action movie who presents an amazing story and connection between father and son, this is the best movie you can watch. This action movie can be watched with the whole family, because it contains no nudity and is a PG-13 one.

The story is pretty simple: Charlie Kenton (Hugh Jackman) is trying to make a living out of robot boxing, the sport of the future. He and his son are made famous by Atom, an old generation robot found in a scrap yard. The end is unexpected and quite heart-breaking.

Whether you love action, adventure or drama movies, the movies mentioned above are certainly among the 5 best movies never seen.
